Title: Global Cache iTach/GC-100
Post by: Matt on July 15, 2010, 02:57:29 PM
Started work on a driver for the GC iTach today.

Anyone got access to one or more of the devices and can lend a hand to help test the driver?  Send me a PM.

Thanks,
Matt.

After looking at the GC-100 protocol doc, it's pretty much the same as the iTach so i'm going to expand this driver to cover both.

Matt, I've now got a iTach  IP2IR and a IP2SL, the IP2SL was easy (why didn't I try that first), and after a call to the suppliers who told me about the GC to CCF converter, the IP2IR is now working fine.
I haven't done anything out of the ordinary programming wise, am just looking to use the IP2IR in a house where there is no cabling other than network between the four levels (another company did the pre-wire and original set up). Am modulating the pay TV however and have been struggling to get reliable IR control via RF so I think this will be a great solution.

Thanks for your help.

Fantastic!  Any bugs to report, or missing features you'd like to see?

Thanks,
Matt.

Hi.

Does the driver support the IR "sensor" input of the iTach WF2IR unit?

Thanks.

Yes it does.  Although i've yet to hear from anyone if it works.

In my testing on the GC-100, I am unable to get the relays to work. IR, serial are working. Will see about getting a few sensors to test with next week

GC-100-12 just arrived.  I can now fix the relay issue reported above.  Stay tuned...

I guess I need to get my GC-100 back out and test again. I just put it away last night.

Program is still loaded so all I need to do is power it up and connect the LAN and a few wires

Thanks Matt!!!

I saw on the RTI forum that this driver is done except for the IR till RTI updates the firmware to take longer character strings. How does the serial port function? I imagine it works like the 2-way strings driver does but I'm not sure.  Any way to test it or buy it now?

Working on a tool to compress the IR commands so they can be used despite the 128 char limitation.

Happy to announce this driver has finally been released!

This driver allows you to extend the functionality of your RTI system using the Global Cache IP based hardware.

The driver implements the full range of functionality and has been tested on both the GC-100 and iTach range of products.

Features:
  • Relay control and feedback.
  • Serial port configuration (baud/flow control/parity).
  • Serial port sending and receiving.
  • Discrete I/O feedback.
  • Infrared sending/port configuration.
  • System information (version, network configuration, config lock status).
  • Blink the power LED of GC-100 units.

With this driver you can add remote relays, inputs, serial ports and infrared transmitters over IP (with the appropriate GC hardware).

By including a special tool for compressing IR HEX codes we have even been able to get around the 128 character limit impossed by ID!

Hi All,

I've just pushed an update (version 2.0) to the web store.  It addresses an issue with a small number of IR codes.  If you already have a license code, the update is free.

Cheers,
Matt.
